This archaeological site holds traces of the Maya civilization from around 600-900AD. The city was occupied by a large number of people and the beautiful ruins stand testament to that. Wander around and visit the museum and the restored structures such as the pyramid, along with its large ball-court. The main pyramid here is as unique as the Egyptian pyramids, built with hundreds of adobe blocks. You can get here by bus from San Salvador.
