Tabuca is surrounded by striking natural beauty, including mountains, forests, coffee plantations and rivers. It is located 14km from Ahuachapán, on the northern edge of Parque Nacional El Imposible and the Guatemalan border. The town is growing as an eco-tourism centre. It is very popular among travellers, especially those coming over from neighbouring countries.
Sightseeing
This town doesn't have many sites to visit, except for the colonial church, which survived the 1773 earthquake and is still standing today. Another earthquake several years ago made the church off-limits to the public, but nowadays a certain amount of people are still allowed in, provided the guard says it's okay. If you're here in time for the Fiestas Patronales, make sure you partake. This event is held in honor of Saint Mary Magdalene from 17th to 22nd July. There are various fun activities to watch out for, such as live music, fireworks, mechanical toys and so on.
Getting there
You can get the bus from Ahuachapán, which will take about 40 minutes. They run all week.
