The quaint Q’eqchi village of Lanquín is set in a valley surrounded by coffee and cardamom bushes. The village itself is pleasant enough, but the main reason people come here is to visit Semuc Champey.

Around and closeby
Semuc Champey is a set of turquoise pools that graduate down a natural limestone staircase, at the bottom of a deep gorge. Lush emerald jungle grows up the slopes on either side. These extraordinarily beautiful pools are located 8km south of Lanquín and are the perfect way to spend an unforgettable day.

Sightseeing
The Lanquín caves are another local attraction that are just a few kilometres from the village. Access through the first few hundred metres of the cave system has been made easy with lights, ladders and walkways being put into place. If you go in the evening you’ll get to see thousands of bats leaving the caves on their way out for a night's hunting.
