Most people that live in Salamá are ladino. The town is relaxed and comfortable, although there’s not really much to do other than visit the old bridge and the church. There is a market on Sundays but the town only really comes alive during the fiesta time, which is about the third week in September. There are plenty of decent places to stay overnight, and also to get a good meal, that cater to all budgets. To get here there are hourly buses from Guatemala City to Salamá.
