San Pedro Carchá is a highly indigenous, silver mining community. There’s not much for the tourist to do in town but a quick visit to the regional museum, near the church, is a good idea. They have some good collections of Maya artefacts and costumes, stuffed animals and handcrafted dolls. Balneario Las Islas is a nice place to have a dip and cool off in the afternoon heat.
Getting there
You can reach San Pedro Carchá by bus from Cobán, they leave every 20 minutes.
