There’s not much reason to come to Santa Cruz Verapaz. The town is rather nondescript and there aren’t any attractions for tourists. There is a mini-zoo that is popular with Guatemalans but seeing the cramped cages that the animals are kept in will probably just make you feel depressed. If you do end up spending the night here then at least you’ll find some cheap, comfortable accommodation around town.
