Puerto Barrios is a city located on the Gulf of Honduras. The town itself is in a bad state of repair, many of the old buildings that gave it its character are being replaced by plain concrete hotels and heavy-drinking bars. There's not much reason to come here unless you're just passing through on your way to somewhere else.

Getting there
The Litegua bus station is in the town centre on Avenida 6, between Calles 9 and 10. All buses pass by here or the stop opposite, next to the train station. Puerto Barrios is the last junction on the Carretera al Atlántico highway.
