Nicely bordering the small town of San Felipe is the suburb of Jocotenango, which can be directly translated as ‘place of bitter fruit’. The place has nothing much for travellers, except for the dusty pink Baroque church. Once upon a time, during the colonial years, this town was well known for being the gateway to Antigua.

Sightseeing
The town is very well known for coffee production and woodcarving. If you have time, make sure you visit the family-owned Artesanias Cardenas Barrios, which has a good collection of bowls and fruits. They have been involved in this particular trade for many years now.
