Benemérito is about 15km downstream from Pipiles, in Mexico. It’s a rough, frontier town and not the sort of place you want to stay long. Drug-smuggling is rife here and the town is suffering because of it. The Mexican immigration centre is 2km north of the town centre. There is some rough accommodation around town if you really do have to spend the night but the transport is regular so hopefully you won’t get stuck here.There are frequent buses to and from Palenque and Comitan.
