HOME - Guatemala - Petén - El Remate


The pretty little village of El Remate is situated on the eastern bank of the Lago de Petén. Lately it has become quite popular with travellers as a good base for exploring the ruins of Tikal and Ixlú, and the Biotopo Cerro Cahuí among other places.

Getting there
All buses going to Tikal will make a stop in El Remate. Every forty minutes there is a bus from the marketplace in Santa Elena coming here too. If you are arriving from Belize then get off the bus in Ixlú, from there you can walk the rest of the way.
