Frontera Corozal is situated on the banks of the Usumacinta River, and serves as an international border river crossing point to Guatemala, which occupies the territory on the river's eastern bank. Frontera Corozal also serves as an access point for several nearby archaeological sites of the Pre-Columbian Maya civilization, such as Yaxchilán, Tonina and Bonampak. It's easy, if a little expensive, to arrange a boat from here to take you to see the ruins.

Getting there
Frontera Corozal is 18km east of the main Comitán – Palenque highway. Taxis, minibuses and shuttles run between the two.
