Mazamitla is a pretty colonial town, nestled on the side of a mountain about 2,200 metres up. There are a couple of pleasant places to stay, especially around the lovely shaded plaza. Zona Monteverde is just 4km from town. There are some cosy little cottages for rent and a couple of restaurants, all set amidst fragrant pine forests.

Getting there
No public transport travels here though, so you might have to go by taxi or drive yourself.
