Near the Sombreretillo Hill, the city of Sombrerete is 167km from the capital Zacatecas, of Zacatecas state. Famous for its mineral resources of gold, silver, lead, tin and mercury, Sombrerete is also known for its great architectural wealth, magnificent churches and old, beautiful buildings constructed during the New Spain era.

Tourist Offices
If you can speak a bit of Spanish then you might find a visit to the tourist information office helpful. It is opposite the cathedral on Hidalgo.

Sightseeing
This city is the second most beautiful city in the state and has old churches and places to visit such as the Parochial Temple, the "La Santa Veracruz" Church, the "Tercera Orden" Church (only one in the country in Renaissance style, and its vault in the interior is unique in Latin America) and the Santo Domingo Church. The city is near the "Sierra de Órganos," where the Caveman Movie, Bandidas, and other films were shot.

Getting there
There are plenty of buses coming here form Durango and Zacatecas.
