Cuidad Juárez is a huge city with a population of 1.4 million people. The city is very much dependent on the borders constant in and out flow. Being so big, Juárez is the second busiest port of entry on the US-Mexico border. Most of the time travellers are from Texas, and they come on day trips for bargain shopping and drinking. The city has a very good bus and road connection, which becomes a good starting point for southbound adventures.

History and Culture
The city has a long history behind its growth. It all started during the Mexican revolution, when the city was still small; but the importance was big. There was much conquering and re-conquering, before everything settled down about a century ago. The final development started about 10 years ago after the North American Free Trade Agreement, which boomed the industry in the city. US manufacturers came in, and markets grew on both sides of the border.

Dangers and Annoyances
Feminicides-murders of over 350 young women-although not tourists, have happened in and around the area. Robbery, mugging, or other crimes against tourists are rare, but do happen

Getting there
You can get into the city by foot, walking across the border, or, if you are travelling from other towns, a bus service is available at all times
