With a population of almost 460,000, the pleasant cowboy town of Durango is known for many things in terms of tourism. The place is famous for its fine colonial architecture, very welcoming locals, and nice hotels and restaurants. This is enough to boost the city as a tourist attraction by itself. People come here mainly to relax and unwind, and since there are lots of things to do both in town and outside, it goes without saying that people really like this place.

History and Culture
History tells how the city got famous from the year it was founded in 1563. Apparently one of the most important reasons behind why this place became essential to the country was the iron-ore deposits, along with gold and silver from the Sierra Madre. It also grew because of other industrial reasons such as farming and timber.
