Tepic is the capital and largest city of Nayarit State. It stands at an altitude above sea level of some 915metres, on the banks of the Río Mololoa and the Río Tepic, approximately 225km north-west of Guadalajara. Nearby are the extinct Sangangüey volcano and its crater lake. Tepic is the primary urban centre of this rich agricultural regio, major crops include sugarcane, tobacco and citrus fruits.

Getting there
You can fly here directly from Tijuana and Mexico City. There are daily buses from Guadalajara, Mazatlan, Mexico City, San Blas, Santiago Ixcuintla and Puerto Vallarta.
