Tehuacán is very different from all the towns and villages we normally see, With a population of over 240, 000, it is a huge regional commercial centre, located about 120km south-east of Puebla. It’s a beautiful town with a fine and shady zócalo. Because of its location between Mexico City and Oaxaca, Tehuacán has become a haven for shopping and so on. The city maps are available from the tourist information kiosk, for this place is a bit complicated to be roaming around alone.

Sightseeing
One of the main attractions is the Saturday market which sells handicrafts. Besides the above, Tehuacán also has other attractions. This city is known for bottled mineral water, and as a tourist, you can take free tours of the Penafiel plant or the underground spring of Garci-Crespo. Also known for agriculture, this city has been harvesting avocados, chillies, corn, and cotton from all the way back to 7000 BC. You can find out about the olden days agriculture and other archaeological discoveries at the museum nearby. Also, since this a very big city, there are other big events like the La Matanza festival.
