Valle de Bravo is located on the shore of Lake Avándaro, approximately 100km west of Mexico City. It takes about 2 hours to drive from Mexico City to Valle de Bravo. The lake is flooded farm land, with a dam that was built to produce electricity. The old town was flooded many years ago. It's a beautiful place usually called the the “Mexican Switzerland". It is mainly a weekend resting place for very affluent people that live in Mexico City, and a world class paragliding Mecca. In terms of climate, one can expect a day time temperature in the 80's from March-June, at night dropping to the low 60's. The rainy season lasts from August until the end of November, and temperatures can be rather unpredictable.

Getting there
There are regular buses from Mexico City, Toluca and Zitácuaro. If you do have your own vehicle and you're planning on driving to Valle de Bravo, then take the Highway 134 rather than the Highway 1 as the views are much better and it's actually faster.
