Ciudad Victoria is the capital city of the Tamaulipas State. The town is pleasant enough, although there isn’t really anything to see here. It makes a nice place to take a breather though, as the town is slightly elevated so the temperature is a bit more bearable.

Sightseeing
A number of important monuments and structures were built around the turn of the 20th century, including a bronze bust of Benito Juárez, 1897, Juárez Theatre in 1899 and in 1910, the monument to the heroes of the independence of Mexico. In 1896, the first children's garden/playground in Latin America was established in the city by Estefanía Castañeda Núñez de Cáceres.

Getting there
There are regular flights to Victoria from Matamoros and Mexico City. The Victoria airport is situated 18km east of town.
