With a huge population of almost half a million people, Matamoros is located near the border of Mexico and Texas. It is known for the historical buildings, art museums, a few stylish restaurants, and so on. The city is a fairly attractive destination, but a lot of people only visit on day trips. The city has a long history of growth, dating all the way back to 1686 during the Spanish colonization. In the past centuries the city has grown into a huge place with everything readily accessible, such as Internet, post office, laundry, banks and tourist centres.
Sightseeing
The city centre comprises of a combination of several places. There’s a shady plaza dotted with ornate wrought iron benches, and also a fine blue tiled Mudejar bandstand, there’s also a gothic style cathedral, and going further south, the industrial zone, which is quite new.
