Pinotepa Nacional is situated 140km east of Puerto Escondido, between Puerto Escondido and Acapulco. It boasts of the fine white powder beaches of Playa Corralero, near the mouth of Laguna Corralero. It is considered as a base point for exploring the surrounding towns and villages. You can find decent accommodation around the town, from hammocks to hotels. It takes around 3 hours by bus from Puerto Escondido to Pinotepa Nacional and 5 to 6 ½ hours from Acapulco.
