Puerto Escondido or “Hidden Port", is a port city in the state of Oaxaca. The primary attractions are the beautiful beaches and championship surfing. Puerto Escondido is also an extremely popular destination for backpackers from all over the world and used to be quite a famous hippie hideaway.

Around and closeby
Visit the nearby lagoon of Chacahua or the nudist beach of Zipolite, both about 90 minutes away from Puerto Escondido.

Sightseeing
Playa Zicatela is considered one of the worlds best surf breaks. While there are waves year-round, the summer months provide a substantially larger swell.

Getting there
Puerto Escondido has a small international airport with connections to Mexico City. Buses serve Puerto Escondido from Oaxaca and Mexico City as well as Acapulco, Huatulco and Puerto Angel. However, the ride from inland is not for the faint of heart (or the weak of stomach)!
