The small village of San Martín Huamelulpan lies 1km off Hwy 125, and is famous for its historical and natural attractions. It has a population of only 130 people living in these serene surroundings. This village is well known as the home for practitioners of traditional medicine.

Sightseeing
To find out more about the healers and the plants they use, you can visit the Museo Comunitario Hitalulu. The museum also has some nice artefacts brought from the archaeological site in the hills above the town.

The ruins of a major Mixtec ceremonial centre are located quite close to the museum. A visit to the ruins is a must as you will discover some uniquely restored temple sites, cells for sacrificial victims, a church, skulls, and much more.
