Sitting on the east bank of Río Grijalva, the small oil town and fishing port of Frontera is not very prosperous. Though the river here is just 8km from the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico, it does not provide much to the town, because the town does not have any public access to the riverfront anywhere near the centre, and in fact the only place you get to see it might be from the bridge that is over one kilometre long, located 4km south of the town.

Sightseeing
There isn't much to see in town, most people only come to this town to use it as a base for visiting the nearby Reserva de la Biosfera Pantanos de Centla.

Getting there
You can reach here by bus from Villahermosa, Paraíso and Campeche.
