Located in the Reserva de la Biosfera Montes Azules, 140km south-east of Ocosingo, the beautiful Laguna Miramar is one of the Mexico’s most remote and beautiful lakes. It’s about 16 square kilometres in size and is known for having a beautiful temperature all year round. Still unpolluted, the only sounds you will hear are the echoes from the roars of howler monkeys.
Getting there
Despite being so remote, it’s still very accessible, due to the ecotourism project in Emiliano Zapata, on the western shore. However, it’s not so easy during the rainy periods between August and October, when the land becomes muddy and very difficult to access.
