San Cristóbal de las Casas is a city in the central highlands of the state of Chiapas. Despite the fact that it is located in a valley, it is still 2100metres above sea level. San Cristóbal is probably the safest and cleanest city in Mexico, with incredible shopping and a wide assortment of nightlife and eating establishments. A real gem with fantastic weather, cool and mild, with friendly locals.

Tourist Offices
The State Tourist Office is at Hidalgo 1b and is open from 8am – 9pm, Monday to Friday and 9am – 8pm during the weekend.

Getting there
There are regular buses to San Cristóbal de las Casas from Mexico City, Comitán, Mérida, Cancún, Chiapa de Corzo, Oaxaca, Palenque, Pochutla, Villahermosa and Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

Getting around
San Cristóbal de las Casas is a very walkable city. If you are reasonably mobile you should be able to walk anywhere within the city without strain.
