The busy town of Tonalá is the jumping-off point to Puerto Arista. Located on Hwy 200, it’s pretty big and bustling. Every Thursday and Sunday there is a huge market selling all kinds of handicrafts and delicious snacks for you to try.

Tourist Offices
Serving as a tourist town primarily, there’s a tourist office on the main street, together with several other facilities around the area, such as Internet access, money changing facilities, ATM's and more. The central plaza is the focus point in reference to these.

Getting there
The OCC bus terminal is located 600metres west of the central plaza and has all classes of bus, serving all destinations around the region, including, Escuintla, Tapachula, Mexico City, and Oaxaca, Puerto Arista, Puerto Escondido, and many more. Also, alternatively there are combi services available too.
