Isla Pequeña del Maíz (Little Corn Island), is in Nicaragua. Almost everyone on the island speaks both passable Spanish and English. For most of those native to the island, English is their first language, although there are many inhabitants who have come over from mainland Nicaragua and consequently speak Spanish as a first language. The island doesn't have many tourist facilities but the snorkelling, diving and boat trips are fantastic.
Getting there
The most common way to get to Isla Pequeña del Maíz is to hire a boat from Isla Grande del Maíz (which can be reached by plane or ferry from mainland Nicaragua). Anyone with a boat for hire will be glad to make the trip, which takes less than an hour.
