If you’re looking to cross over the Rio Coco and the Honduras border, you’ll need to stop in Waspám and get your passport stamped at the Bilwi Immigration. The city of Waspám can be relaxing for many tourists, since there aren’t as many drugs and women won’t be whistled at by every man in sight.
Dangers and Annoyances
If you don’t want to take an anti-malarial drug, you shouldn’t stay in Waspám long, because there are far more mosquitoes than there are places to hide.
Sightseeing
Waspám does have a few hotels and restaurants that are decent enough and the entire town has 24-hour electricity and running water.
