The small town of Ticuantepe is an escapade for many people. It is located 19km from Managua, on the western edge of the Complejo Ventarron Volcanic. Once upon a time, it was a profound Matagalpa Indian centre, but now this town serves a completely different purpose. It’s basically just the service centre for agriculture around the region.
Sightseeing
You can take the trail that climbs the dormant Cerro Ventarron, where you'll get to see some of the best views of Masaya. Do not forget to look out for the well-known petroglyphs also called the Pared de Serpientes, which has twenty-five well-preserved drawings related to snakes. This place is easily accessible from town, but you have to ask permission to enter. If you have time and interest, do also visit the Parque Zoológico Edgar Lang Sacasa, which features local wildlife and some African species.
