Quite famous for the 'viveros' or greenhouses, Catarina has its own way of attracting tourists. It is located at the crossroads of Los Pueblos Blancos, among tropical lands. People come to buy the tropical plants that are sold here. The primary attraction is the view across the Laguna de Apoyo, to Granada and Cocibolca.
Sightseeing
There are plenty of inexpensive restaurants and souvenir shops lining the walkways. It's a half hour walk from town to the beautiful Laguna de Apoyo, once the favoured meditating spot for Augusto C. Sandino.
Getting there
You can get here easily by bus from Granada, Managua, and Masaya. If you come on a tour group you will most probably stop at the nearby crater first.
