With a population of 35,700 people, the town of Nindirí is much more beautiful and cleaner than any other town within this region. Once upon a time, during the Chorotega era, this town was extremely important, but now it is merely a city with historical traces of the old civilization. There are some nice things to see though, including the archaeological sites.
Sightseeing
The Catholic Church here is simple yet beautiful, and has some significant history behind it, especially being the home to the famous Cristo del Volcán, who is known for saving the town from the destruction of the volcanic eruption some two centuries ago. The Cascadas Cailagua and petroglyphs are also important spots here. The waterfall, despite the pollution, is quite fascinating, and the wall of petroglyphs nearby is really interesting.
Getting there
This town is located about 3km north of Masaya, so you can take a bus or a taxi from there.
