San Marcos was once thought to be the oldest human settlement in the country, but now things have completely changed. It is populated mainly by students these days, due to the Ave Maria College. Besides that, on April 24th and 25th this place gets country-wide attention for the San Marcos’ Fiestas Patronales. You can spend some peaceful nights here, mingling with the people, especially the students who have come from diverse backgrounds and countries. Since it’s a developing town, you can find all the amenities you need, such as banks, ATM's, Internet cafés, and more.
Getting there
You can get here by buses easily from Managua, Jinotepe and Masaya, although you have to change.
