Chichigalpa is a small town in the Chinandega department of Nicaragua. It is 124km from Managua, and is located at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano, the highest volcano in the Maribios range, at 1745metres above sea level. Chichigalpa is known for producing Nicaragua's best known rum, Flor de Caña. Chichigalpa is also home to the sugar factory "Ingenio San Antonio" which not only produces sugar but also provides electrical energy to the public during the crop.

Sightseeing
To arrange a guided tour of the Flor de Caña factory you have to visit the Commission of Culture in the Chichigalpa Alcaldía, which is two blocks from the park. You can also arrange hikes to the top of San Cristóbal, through the Parque Ecológico Municipal.
