This city won the title of “Hottest City in Nicaragua”, so you can imagine how unbearably hot it gets. It is basically a service town for the country's deep water port, El Corinto. Besides that, agribusiness is also quite common here, for the volcanic soil is extremely fertile. Most of the people like to come here because of its accessibility to all the natural sights around the region. On top of that, the beautiful, olden-day architecture is nice to look at. As a whole, the city is quite organised, and the centre of focus in town is the Parroquia Santa Ana.
Sightseeing
The surrounding volcanoes, the beaches, and the wetlands are the most prominent attractions here. The churches here are worth visiting as well. In fact, they are the most attractive buildings in the city as they are very colourful and impressive. The Parque Central is home to a few fearsome alligators, if you fancy giving yourself a scare.
