La Paz Centro is not naturally a tourist attraction. But if you’re going on a long journey and passing by this town, it might be quite interesting to drop in and look around. With a population of about 36,770 people, this place is very simple and typically Nicaraguan. La Paz Centro is the tejas-making centre. The ceramic shingles made here are exquisite and are good representatives of the Spanish colonial architecture. If you have been to Costa Rica before, then these might look quite familiar to you. In fact, most of the things made here are sold there. If you are interested in this industry, you can ask for a tejas factory tour at the alcaldia.

Another well known place here is the Mercado de Artesanias, and just like any other artesanias, you will find the best works in town here. You can find some good pots and sculptures made by ceramicists, which beautifully explain the Nicaraguan daily life. You can also travel down to the banks of Rio Tamarindo to have some fun fishing and eating your catch.
