The small town of El Tuma-La Dalia boasts of not one but two reasons for its growing popularity - one is the Balneario Santa Emilia, and the other one is the Reserva Natural Macizos de Penas Blancas. The first is a 15m waterfall located a short distance away from the town. Actually, it is located halfway from Matagalpa to La Dahlia so you can ride there in the bus. After getting off the bus, you can walk along a short trail and the waterfall will greet you in all its glory. Although, the waterfall is not spectacular like Angle Falls, or any other larger waterfall found in the region, the surroundings are pretty and it's ideal for a photo session. The natural reserve, on the other hand, is a place worth visiting for the sights, especially with the peak of La Cordillera, the beautiful cloud forests, the 48 waterfalls, the swimming holes, and everything else. You can get a guided tour around the reserve. Another famous attraction is the San Rafael Private Reserve that has many bird species.
