If you’re hanging around the Isla de Ometepe and you’re looking for something interesting to invest a little time in you should head over to the Reserva Charco Verde. The hiking trail begins at a hotel of the same name and leads up to the green pond, which is great for swimming and also a great place to get to know the story of Chico Largo.

History and Culture
Chico Largo is a local witch that protects the tombs on the shore of the lake as well as the lake itself—you don’t need to be afraid of him for the most part; he may offer you a life of luxury in exchange for your soul which will be trapped in the body of a cow on Ometepe, but he will get upset if you take pictures of the lake. Getting there
There are several good hotels and some of them offer dinner or have restaurants for their guests. The prices are decent enough, but if you prefer, you can also go to the camp-site.
