Rivas is a city in south-western Nicaragua. The city is the capital of the Department of Rivas. It's a busy, bustling town that has lots of colonial charm. The town is not a big tourist attraction as yet, but because of its proximity to Granada this may well change in the future.

Sightseeing
There are a couple of churches that are worth a look and you might want to wander over to the Biblioteca Pública de Rivas, believed to be the oldest building in Nicaragua.
Getting there
There are daily buses to and from Managua, San Salvador-El Salvador, San José-Costa Rica and Tegucigalpa-Honduras. You can also reach here by bus from Salinas, San Jorge, Sapoá, Granada and San Juan del Sur.
