Unlike other islands in this region, Cayo Agua is quite small and is just an islet. It is located beyond Popa 1 on Isla Popa, but unlike the other villages around, this place has its own form of uniqueness. Unique here refers to the vibrant nature of the settlement. You can see this from the houses, which are normally painted with brick-red and sky-blue paint. The main source of income here is fishing, and therefore you won't find any tourist centres or handicraft centres or stores here. Very unlike Isla Popa, most of the people survive on lobster and crab fishing, while some are involved in cattle farming in the fertile inlands. And since it is still safe from the prying eyes of the global tourists, it is indeed a good place to visit.
Sightseeing
One of the most notable things around here is the ancient deposits of coral, which can be found in the north-western area of the island. Apparently, these corals date all the way back to some three million years ago
