This marine park still stands as one of a kind in this country, for it was the first around here. Physically speaking, it is so big that it covers the land from Cayos Zapatillas all the way to Playa Larga. And the diversity of the land is also unique here there is basically a mangrove forest, a large piece of land, and the Buttonwood Cays and Gallego Cays in the conservation area. To enter the park, you just pay a fee at the ANAM office in Bocas Town. The park, just like any other around the region, is meant to protect the indigenous marine life, wildlife, plant life, freshwater fish, and much more. It is basically managed by ANAM in Cayos Zapatillas, which is actually a pair of nice islands with a blend of a coral platform, white sandy beaches, lush forests and blue clear waters. The islands are the best spots for watching turtle nesting and bird watching. The waters, which are home to hundreds of different types of fishes and mammals, are probably the best in the region for snorkelling and diving.
