This small village, also known as the Salt Creek Village,, is actually a small Ngöbe Buglé community in the south-eastern part of Isla Bastimentos. Geographically, it is located on a mangrove island at the end of a canal, which means you won’t find high-rise buildings or commercial centres there. It’s just a small fishing village with a good blend of farming as their main sources of income. Nonetheless it is a nice place to spend your evenings. If you were to walk around, do not miss out the handicraft stalls.
Sightseeing
The only probable attractions here are the beaches and reefs, you can easily walk through the village to access them. Just walk along from the Marine Park through the forests and wetlands, and you get to your destination. Don’t be afraid of losing track; the place is full of part-time guides. Salt creek, on the other hand, is located nearby Punta Vieja. This beach is the ideal place to go and watch nesting turtles and also good for snorkelling as the coral reefs and beautiful blue waters are just marvellous.
