David is a medium sized city in the south-west of Panama located around the Pan-American Highway. It is the capital of the province of Chiriquí. San José de David, the official name, is Panama's third largest urban area. It functions as a hub for the province's commercial activities, mainly agriculture and cattle raising and supplies the rest of the country. It is connected to the rest of the country by the Pan-American Highway, and the Enrique Malek Airport.
History and Culture
David was founded in 1602 by Juan López de Sequeira, by the banks of the David River (also known as Risacua).

Sightseeing
The Feria de San José de David is celebrated in the middle of March and lasts for ten days.
Getting there
You can fly to David from Panama City, Bocas del Toro and Changuinola. You can also reach
David by bus from almost anywhere in western Panama.
Getting around
There are plenty of taxis on the streets of David and they're so cheap that you don't really need to use any other form of public transport.
