Nombre de Dios is a town on the Atlantic coast of Panama in the Colón Province. Founded as a Spanish colony in 1510 by Diego de Nicuesa, it was one of the first European settlements on the Isthmus of Panama and it is currently the oldest, continually populated town in Panama.
It doesn't look now like it had a really significant past but it still has some charms.
Sightseeing
There are a few deserted beaches they you can find with the help of a guide, and the snorkelling is great here as there's such a colourful array of sea life.
Getting there
here are regular buses from Colón that pass through Sabanitas on their way to Nombre de Dios.
