Chepo was Panama's border town until the 1960s, and is still as major passageway for travellers today. Once it was a popular stop over destination for canoes that passed from here into Darién. Today it is more famous for attracting bird watchers and for fishing tours on Lake Bayano. This small town has most facilities except accommodation. It will take you about one and a half hours on the bus from Panama City to Chepo.
