Río Azúcar is an overcrowded island that is much closer to the mainland than any other island on the archipelago. The island has served as the focal point for many US missionaries and has a small dilapidated church. It also offers visitors as well as locals groceries, medical aids and other amenities, which might not be available in the other nearby islands.
