The first thing that will catch your eye the moment you reach Guararé is the over sized wooden guitar that hangs at the towns entrance and this is because this town is home to Panama's music festival. It also has a long standing boxing tradition. The town has been named after a tribal Indian chief and the main attraction of the town is the central plaza. The central plaza has colourful buildings, a museum and a handful of bars. This is the home of Robert Duran, the world boxing champion and Panama’s hero.

Sightseeing
One of the places to see in this town is the mud-walled Museo Belisario Porras, which is the residence of a former Panama President who held his tenure for three consecutive terms. You can also visit the Santa Librada, which is a nice church with fine baroque features. The pulpit and the walls of the church date back to 1789.
