The Gamboa Rainforest Resort is an extremely overpriced resort that is a favourite with American families. This purpose built tourist trap won't really appeal to those who like to get an authentic feel for the country they are visiting, although it does also get a lot of good press. The best thing about the place is its amazing location, set in the rainforest, it has some breathtaking views across the Río Chagres and the forest. The resort does offer some very good tours, although they're also very expensive. There are a few things to see at the resort though, such as the snake house, the aquarium and the butterfly farm.
