East of the Panama Canal, 2km from the Miraflores lock, is the entrance to the Parque Nacional Camino de Cruces. With a wide range of plant and animal life this park is a great place to go hiking. There are many different hiking trails through the park, the most popular being the Camino de Cruces. This trail was once the colonial gold route and it goes from the Parque Nacional Camino de Cruces, through the Parque Nacional Soberania and on to the Río Chagres.
