To reach Laguna Parón, you will have to make your way along thirty-two kilometres on a narrow and rough road in the eastern direction from Caraz. This town is surrounded by several, huge snow-capped mountain peaks, which include the Huandoy, Piramide, Garcilazo, and Caraz. The trek is a single day of fun and sweat for acclimatized hikers, almost a 5 hour walk from the village of Parón. It's advisable to follow the walking trail instead of the road wherever possible, as the trail is much shorter. You can camp next to the Duke Energy refuge.
